We went boating, I mean camping to emigration campground, near Montpelier/bear lake area, over the weekend. It was a real pretty drive, the tops of the mountains had snow on them and the base was all green, very pretty. As we are driving and climbing up the mountain we notice snow on the sides of the road. Didn't think much of it, kinda laughed, "wouldnt it be funny if we had snow in the campground?" pulling into the campground we saw this next to the road.
This water is running at a pretty good pace. Drive in further and see this:
No campground host. huh..strange. And yes that is a pile of snow.
This is the road, this is running water...
This is the site we had reserved. This is the trail to go up to the table and firepit. It is now a stream.
This is our table and firepit, the ground is all muddy and marshy
Road in the next loop over. Again, running water...
Different campsites firepit, filled with water.
I think this picture is pretty.
We were able to find a dry area and since we were the only ones there, we took it. There were 2-3 other campers that showed up over the weekend but they had trailers, (oh that's what I forgot, my house) so the ground wasn't too big of an issue for them. The campground host came the first day we were there and said he had to push snow off the roads on Monday (we went thursday) and they have a 300% snow pack. Crazy!
The "kitchen"
Our tent in the background, yes that is snow on the right, its melted down quite a bit.
